Oil ⛽️ nears $100, gas surges 13%, gold goes down, and cryptoassets continue to slide down after tension escalation following Russia’s recognition of separatist nations. Tensions escalate as President Putin recognizes two self-proclaimed republics, Donetsk and Luhansk, which are situated around East Ukraine, and are internationally recognized as part of Ukraine. Putin ordered sending “peacekeeping” troops into the separatist nations, by doing so moving into Ukraine’s territory. This move was greatly condemned by the West, as the US has already set sanctions against the separatist areas, and is looking along the UK and the EU to impose sanctions on Russia. Russia is continuing to deny allegations of invasion despite entering what is considered to be internationally recognized as Ukraine. The European STOXX 600 is down -0.6%, while the S&P500 is down -0.7%, and Russian shares slumped to -5.4%. Cryptoassets and gold also experienced drops. Gas and oil experienced great gains, as Gas went up by 13%, and Oil is nearing $100 from 93$.
